Raiden is a protagonist, sometimes even the main protagonist from the Metal Gear Solid series, got his own game with Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (2013) and is also one of the playable characters in the crossover fighting game Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale (2012). Raiden debuted in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001) as one of the two playable main protagonists.
In Metal Gear Solid 4, Raiden is shown uncontrollably vomiting blood after being critically injured in his first fight with Vamp. Upon being stabbed by several FROGS inside Outer Haven he coughs up some blood as well. In Metal Gear Rising, he gets his ass kicked by Senator Armstrong to the point where he's coughing up blood.
The spinoff game, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, was released in 2013 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and in Jan 2014 on Steam (PC). The game is set after Guns of the Patriots and stars Raiden, the protagonist of Sons of Liberty who turned into a cyborg ninja.

But at the beginning of his mission in MGS2, Colonel Campbell called him Snake, but Raiden wasn't comfortable with the name cause it reminded the colonel about Solid Snake, so that's where the name change to Raiden came from, plus Raiden is a clone of Solidus, I don't think Solidus was born by then since he was the 3rd Snake, so that boy obviously isn't Raiden.Learn More
